About the Artist
I am Mickey Espino, a contemporary metaphorical artist and a dedicated psychology researcher. My work blends art and psychology to make a meaningful difference in people's lives. Currently, I am pursuing a Master’s in Psychology, focusing my academic research on the therapeutic benefits of art in fostering emotional and psychological well-being.

Guided by the philosophies of Kintsugi and Wabi-Sabi, I celebrate the beauty in imperfection, impermanence, and brokenness. My art is deeply influenced by personal experiences and encounters with individuals who have shown remarkable resilience in the face of life-changing challenges. These stories of strength, recovery, and growth are central to my creative process and inspire every piece I create.

Through my art, I aim to invite viewers to reflect on the transient and imperfect nature of life, fostering connection, healing, and self-discovery. Each piece I create carries a message of hope and transformation, resonating on a deeply human level.
My work has been showcased in solo and group exhibitions, as well as prominent art fairs across New Zealand. I am also actively involved in community projects, including The Big Apple Project, Surfboard Transformation Project, and the Kiwi Art Trail.

My journey as an artist and psychology researcher continues to explore the profound potential of art as a tool for personal growth and transformation. I am committed to using my practice to inspire reflection, celebrate resilience, and foster a deeper connection to the imperfectly beautiful. If you would like to learn more about my work, collaborate, or experience my art, feel free to reach out through my social media or email. I would love to hear from you!
